Since I took a short course in Makeup Artistry in the summer of 2013, I have kept updating my make up bag from time to time, it might not be as big as I want it to be yet and it might not contain all the eye-catching items I want now but it certainly isn’t how it used to be. So, let’s dig right in!
Davis Brow pencil in colour 3 and colour 18: The brows are like the ‘voila’ of the face. They frame the face and have the ability to make you look ‘naked’ or ‘clothed’. So, for people with my skin tone, this combo will give you the brows you want (if you’re capable of using them, of course). Using Colour 3 alone will give you dark brows and 18 alone will give you light brows so both will be perfect.
Jordana eye liner in Black: Eye liners add some effect to the eyes depending on the type of eye liner look you’re going for. I’ll do a post on various eye liner looks later.
L.A. Girl PRO concealer in Fawn and in Chestnut: I use La girl pro in Fawn for highlighting my brows, under my eyes, cupid’s bow, forehead and chin. Chestnut is closer to my skin tone so I use that to hide dark spots. The fascinating thing about these concealers is that they are soooo good and yet, affordable. When I bought them in a local beauty supply store in New York, these concealers cost just about two or three dollars and that was about two years ago. However, when I shopped for them here in Lagos, I got them for about a thousand naira which is still very affordable. The key to having a flawless look with this is blend! Blend! Blend! I also use Mary kay concealer in Bronze 1
Mary Kay medium coverage foundation in Bronze 607: like the name goes, it’s a foundation. This is used first before adding concealers and the rest to the face. It’s not compulsory though, depending on how flawless your skin looks naturally.
Benefit POREfessional primer: A primer on a makeup day keeps the oils away.
Maybelline Baby Lips in Peach Kiss: to prime the lips for lip color and prevent lip chapping.
H& M smokey eyes pallete: A smokey eye is a classical dramatic look known for a while now. This palette has a tutorial on the pack to teach you how to go about the smokey look.
Pond’s oil control Talcum powder: I use this to kill pimples and to set my under eye concealer sometimes when my setting powder runs out and it does a pretty good job.
ELF Kabuki brush: I use this to apply my foundation
Zaron face definer PZ20: to sculpt/contour the face
NYX Jumbo pencil in Milk: great primer for the eyes that helps eye shadow colours pop!
Romantic Beauty blusher, Jordana blush powder in Redwood 12: who doesn’t love some colour on the cheeks
Jordana lipstick in Natural 28: one of the best Nude lips for my skin tone. Just pair with a brown lip liner and you’re good to go
Tinkle eye brow razor: to keep those stray eye brow hairs away
Nycil cotton buds: to correct eye liner mistakes
Black up loose powder in light: this is what I usually use to set my highlight
Mary kay crème-to-powder foundation: I use this as my foundation too
NK lip pencil a21 pink sachet, Jordana lip pencil in Capuccino: to give the lips an outline for lip colour
