Do you see someone skilled in their work?
They will stand before kings;
they will not serve before officials of low rank.
Proverbs 22:29
Welcome back to the blog today, my loves. I believe your week has been fantastic so far. I’m so excited for the weekend- I just might take myself to have pancakes to celebrate. Who’s as excited as I am?
Before I went to camp, I was crushing on a few pieces from the Demure by Denike collection that was launched some months ago.
If you don’t know Denike, she’s an amazing creative; blogger, photographer and fashion designer.
I particularly love how she infuses African fabrics and styles with a modern twist to produce a masterpiece. So when I saw this collection, I knew I just had to share with you because everyone, foreigners inclusive, are bending towards African fashion and that’s exceptionally cool. Here are my favourite pieces from the collection.
To be honest, this is my absolute favourite one. I love the cold-shoulder top paired with the wide pants, minimal accessory and cute simple shoes. It speaks Afro-fusion and tells us that “less is more”. The blue tones in the outfit also gives a cool and effortless look that can be worn to almost every occasion aside cocktails, dinners or to the beach. The open window in the background also gives it this ‘ na house I dey, I go soon comot’ feel. It’s like those cool houses in the village that still look modern at the same time. I love love love this outfit.
This is my second favourite. I love the crop top added to give the pants a playful look.
Am I the only one that thinks this model is a Nigerian Lupita Nyongo? Her Choco-latte skin colour makes this outfit look like Cappuccino with Caramel served in a blue cup. I absolutely love the style of this dress. I wouldn’t mind wearing this to my first day as a teacher (NYSC has made me a teacher by force–cries in fried rice ???). The Adire fabrics used in this collection are also really nice and cool. Maybe Demure’s best colour is blue cuz there are a lot of blue hues in this collection.
Did you notice the colour of the Adire blends with the colours from the ladder and the windows? Such attention to details! Demure is definitely standing before great kings! Purple is my favourite colour and mixing it with a bright colour such as orange is definitely a winner. If I’d wear this, I’d most likely have mine with sleeves, simply because I’m very conscious of my arms and don’t like them too exposed. Other than that, this is a classic.

The off shoulder trend is a win win for me. It doesn’t seem to be going anywhere soon. This combo is so lovely and I like the fact you can wear the both pieces separately; the top with denim pants or some leggings to accentuate your curves and any top of your choice with the skirt. If you’re a bit on the skinny side like I am, I’d advise you go a size up on the top.

Nevertheless, this combo is perfect plus the top isn’t too tight. We need some air biko, Nigeria is hot!
You would turn heads wearing this to an office or awards dinner, Simple accessory and lovely shoes -you’re good to go. ?
