Arella Hair – Affordable Nigerian-made Hair Care Brand

I’ll be reviewing a simple set of an affordable Nigerian hair care brand called Arella Hair that I tried recently. This was highly requested on my Instagram and even off social media, especially by students, who are always looking to buy stuff on a budget.

One of my goals this year is to save more. In a bid to do that, I started to seek for affordable Nigerian-made hair care brands.

The most affordable Nigerian-made Hair care brands I’ve seen are those big white ones you’d see in saloons but a lot of them do not contain really good ingredients for the hair. Though I’ve seen some people try to make it work, why not save yourself the stress?

How Did I Find Out About this Product?

Earlier this year, I was reading Anita‘s blog; a natural hair and skin care blog. She blogs about a lot of affordable Nigerian-made hair and skin products.  I came across one of her posts that talked about some affordable Nigerian-made hair care brands and a certain Hair Perfume by the Arella Brand, stood out to me.

Hair Perfume kwa? A hair perfume was quite strange to me so I decided to try it out myself and discovered that they engage in a couple of products and services such as sell shampoos, conditioners, making of wigs and so on. I’ll do an Instagram post on the perfume but this post would majorly focus on the shampoo and conditioner.

Ordering and Delivery Process

I ordered the products via Whatsapp and it was quite easy. I found out from the lovely young lady who owns the brand that she wasn’t staying far from my mother’s store so I opted to pick it up at her place, instead of paying for delivery (we have to save money, innit?). So, I took a quick Danfo plus Keke Napep to get them.

However, you can pay for it to be delivered to you.

To be really honest, throughout that month, the young lady behind this brand was my greatest motivation. When I met her, I was quite shocked that the brand was owned by someone that young; in fact, she’s a student and has such big dreams. Her innovation; the hair perfume was major goals and I really couldn’t help but tell anyone I could about it.

Let’s Check out These Affordable Nigerian-Made Hair care Products in detail…

Arella Shampoo

The shampoo comes in a white bottle with a yellow cover and yellow labels. It promises to gently cleanse and remove buildup from the hair and scalp, while conditioning it, leaving the hair shiny and manageable after rinsing.

Ingredients

Aqua (water), Glycerine, Vitamin E, CDEA, Peppermint, Citrus Acid, Perfume, EDTA

Glycerine helps to retain length, reduce itching, stop dandruff and repair split ends

Vitamin E helps to improve bold circulation in the scalp

Peppermint contains menthol which helps with hair loss and blood flow to the hair follicles.

Pros and Cons

The shampoo has a cool menthol feel on the scalp, it smells of menthol as well. It also cleanses the hair really well and a little goes a long way, as it lathers a lot. No cons for me but if you are allergic to any of the ingredients, this product may not be for you.

Arella Conditioner

The conditioner comes in a similar bottle as the shampoo, but with an orange cover and orange labels. It has a not too thick consistency and feels silky on the palm (just like normal conditioners).

Ingredients

Water, Glycerine, Shea butter, Vitamin E, Coconut oil, Castor oil, Lanolin, Rosemary herb and oil, Dehyquart A, Mineral oil, Clodagh wax, fragrance and Citric acid

Rosemary oil and Castor oil help in hair growth.

Pros and Cons/Recommendation(s)

With this bottle, just like the shampoo, a little goes a long way. So, this bottle will last you some time except you like to pout shampoo/conditioner like stew on rice.

I don’t really like the smell of the conditioner. I’d advise that the fragrance is changed. However, it is really good for conditioning, especially deep conditioning. It is also fantastic for co-washing/conditioning of wigs.

Pricing/Where to Order

Each bottle costs N800. You can order via Instagram DM HERE or Whatsapp 07065896881.

Final Verdict

These are quite affordable and do the job well. They are a pretty good dupe for the expensive hair products in stores nationwide. They work well for both relaxed and natural hair. Men can use them too.
