5 things to have in your bio as an influencer to land brand sponsorships

things to have in your bio as an influencer
As someone who works in an influencer marketing agency, I am privileged to know certain information that I otherwise would not have known. Some of that information includes what brands/agencies look out for when searching for influencers. Sometimes, you fit what the brand is looking for but due to certain things missing from your profile, the person conducting the search assumes that you do not have those qualities and quickly scampers away. Agencies have little to no time to research in-depth about you especially when they need to update a list of 100s of influencers for a campaign and in such little time. Hence, this post is your stepping stone to getting your name on the list of desired brand campaigns. Dear influencer, here are 5 things you should have on your profile always:

LOCATION:

I can’t count how many times I have come across an influencer that seems to fit a bill but I can’t seem to figure out where the influencer is based, because there are no tagged locations in their posts nor do they have any on their profiles. Most agencies have paid software that gives them some of this back-end information. However, not all brands or agencies have these software so make their job easier by simply including it in your profile/bio or on your posts.

CONTACT EMAIL:

It absolutely makes me sad when I see influencer pages without a contact email in their profiles/bios. How is the brand supposed to reach you for a possible collaboration? Also, the email tab on Instagram is not enough because, on desktop, that tab isn’t visible. So, do yourself a favour and include your email in your profile.

UP-TO-DATE HIGHLIGHTS

Most brands try to figure out your personality from your story highlights because it is believed that Instagram story content is relatable, spontaneous and not as scripted as in-feed content. Try to keep those highlights as updated as possible. If you have a highlight on Instagram with stories that date as far back as 76weeks ago, it’s probably time to delete and revamp. LINKS TO YOUR WORK/OTHER PLATFORMS

One of the best ways to make money from your content is to be active on more than one platform. Most of the time, each platform has an audience and content of its own. So, it’s easy to batch them as a bundle to pitch to brands. Since each platform is unique, brands will pay more to have their products/services exposed to more than one audience. E.g being active on Instagram and TikTok OR TikTok and Youtube. If you’re active on more than 4 at once, you’ve got yourself a jackpot! Easy though! This can get overwhelming for you as a creator. So, I advise finding your feet on one platform before spreading your wings. Also, learn to cross-promote (e.g cut down a YouTube video to 15 seconds to post on TikTok or Instagram. Make a written version and post on your blog).

NICHE

Niche is becoming a blurry subject on Instagram as more influencers are beginning to diversify their offerings. However, you should still include at least your top 2 desired niches in your profile to give whoever is coming to your profile for the first time, a brief overview of the kind of content to expect from you.   There you have it! 5 simple tips but yet many influencers miss one or two of them.
